Title: Beyond Copilots (Multi-Agent SDLC)
Abstract: While first-generation AI developer tools focused on inline code completions (Copilots), modern engineering demands autonomous multi-agent systems capable of executing end-to-end software development lifecycle (SDLC) workflows. Moving beyond passive assistance requires orchestrating specialized, collaborative agent roles—such as Architects, Coders, Reviewers, and QA Testers—that decompose complex technical requirements into verifiable, deterministic units of work. This talk provides a comprehensive architectural guide to designing, orchestrating, and governing autonomous multi-agent pipelines across the SDLC. We examine communication topologies, state management, shared context protocols (MCP), and verification harnesses that prevent error propagation. Drawing on practical patterns from high-reliability enterprise systems, full-stack microservices, and mobile platforms, we demonstrate how to build multi-agent systems that autonomously design, implement, test, and safely deploy software while keeping human engineers in the loop for high-leverage architectural decisions.
Bio: Mahesh Reddy Konatham is a Senior Software Engineer at PayPal, specializing in building scalable full-stack applications, robust distributed systems, and modern mobile solutions. He holds a Master of Science in Software Engineering from San Jose State University and a Bachelor of Technology from NIT Trichy. With broad experience spanning fintech, developer platforms, and enterprise utilities, Mahesh has spent the past few years deep in the Credit and Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) domain at PayPal, architecting resilient backend services, high-throughput microservices, and customer-facing interfaces. His technical expertise spans distributed backend architectures, Android application development, React-based frontends, and cloud infrastructure. Mahesh has led key engineering initiatives in automated visual testing, performance optimization, and developer productivity across large-scale systems. Mahesh is deeply passionate about Generative AI, Agentic SDLC, Loop Engineering, and Model Context Protocols (MCPs). His current focus centers on architecting self-correcting agentic workflows, structured context protocols, and intelligent verification loops that empower engineering teams to deliver robust, enterprise-grade software with speed and reliability.
